David is a Director in PAAMCO’s Singapore office, where he serves as a Head of Research for Asia. Prior to joining PAAMCO, David performed a similar role for KBC Alpha Asset Management, an Asia-focused Fund of Hedge Fund business. David opened KBC Alpha’s Singapore Office in 2004 and was responsible for managing regionally focused institutional mandates.
David has worked directly in the Asian hedge fund industry since 1998, establishing and running a Japan-focused multi-strategy fund at London and Oxford Capital Markets before co-founding Arbiter Fund Managers and managing a dedicated Japanese long/short equity fund.
David started in the industry in 1986 at Baring Far East Securities where he was employed as a Japanese convertible and warrant trader, spending four years living in Tokyo. He then moved back to London as Head of Japanese Equity Product at Sanwa International.
David is originally from county Durham in North-East England and graduated with a MA (Hons) in Modern History from Christ Church, Oxford in 1986.
David lives in Singapore with his wife and the one of his three children who has not yet flown the nest. Away from investing, his passion is rugby and he can often be found on the playing fields of Singapore either coaching or refereeing.
