Michael Wexler, chief executive officer and co-founder of Maple Leaf Capital, an investment management company founded in 2002 with offices in London and Hong Kong. The firm manages client assets in the areas of volatility trading (Revolver Fund) and crash protection strategies (SHIELD overlay program) among other strategies. The firm’s largest hedge fund, the Maple Leaf Macro Volatility Fund with peak assets of US$ 1 billion in 2008, traded quantitative based volatility strategies with a macro approach. The fund was split into two parts in 2010 – macro (managed account) and pure quantitative volatility trading (Maple Leaf Revolver Fund). Maple Leaf is regulated by the FSA (London) and SFC (Hong Kong). Prior to Maple Leaf, Mr. Wexler was at Credit Suisse First Boston in London for four years establishing and managing the single stock derivative trading group and then as a proprietary trader focusing on global single stock volatility and global correlation trading. He began his career in currency derivatives with Citibank Toronto and London trading Canadian dollar options, Japanese Yen exotic options, and Dollar/Euro options. Mr. Wexler graduated with distinction from the Richard Ivey School of Business at the University of Western Ontario in 1993.
